African Sun Safari / Zimbabwe 14 Days

Join us on the African Sun Safari to the land reputed to be the heart of Africa - visit the Great Zimbabwe Monuments (Zimbabwe Ruins) still a mystery as to whom and when they were built. View Lake Mutirikwi and on to Harare, the capital of Zimbabwe. Here we explore the many restaurants and sample the night life. We then drive north to Lake Kariba, the largest man-made lake in Africa, where you will spend two nights on a house boat travelling around the lake viewing game from the water.

Then it's on to Bumi Hills Hotel.

Bumi Hills commands a superb view over the lakeshore where herds of buffalo and elephant graze. The patio restaurant and swimming pool are splendidly situated with a fine view of the lake. You will also enjoy game viewing from open game vehicles.

Board a ferry for a twenty-four hour cruise, which will transport you along the lake to Mlibizi, a small town on the shores of the lake. Then on to Victoria Falls, "The Smoke That Thunders".

Stand in awe above the Devils Cataract at the Victoria Falls - one of the "Seven Wonders of the World". Walk through the rain forest, view the Falls and Craft Village. Enjoy a sunset cruise on the mighty Zambezi River in the Victoria Falls gorge (white water rafting an optional extra). Visit the crocodile farm.

We then drive on to Bulawayo to visit Cecil John Rhodes' grave in the Motobo's, reputed to have the largest concentration of leopard in the world. Visit Chipangali Wild Life Orphanage outside Bulawayo. Experience game drives in private game reserves and be accommodated in luxury lodges. We then make our way back to Johannesburg where the tour ends.

     Itinerary

Day One
Depart Johannesburg 07h00.
We travel to Louis Trichard for lunch before arriving at Beit Bridge
the border between South Africa and Zimbabwe. Clear border formalities and on to Temba Safari Lodge Overnight

Day Two
Depart after Breakfast for a Lodge in Bulawayo. Visit Rhodes' Grave and walk about. Tour of the small game reserve. Tour to Chipingalie Animal Orphanage returning to Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day Three
Depart after breakfast for Victoria Falls, Elephant Hills Hotel
check in and relax before dinner, overnight.

Day Four
After breakfast depart for White Water Rafting, Early lunch
before rafting begins, then on to the river.
Return from Rafting to Lodge and relax before dinner with a
true African theme.

Day Five
Tour of Victoria Falls and a tour of the village, lunch and
depart for Milibezi. Overnight at Milibezi Hotel.

Day Six
Early depart on ferry for Kariba town arriving next morning.

Day Seven
Short tour of the Kariba Dam Wall and the town before
boarding our houseboat for the next four days.
Visit an African village on the banks of the lake.
Take a game drive stopping for "Sundowner Drinks" at sunset.
Take a Night Game drive.
Try your hand at "Tiger Fishing"
Last night BBQ on a tranquil island at sunset.

Day Eleven
Disembark houseboat and drive to Harare.
Lunch en-route
Dinner and overnight at Harare Safari Lodge

Day Twelve
Depart after breakfast for a short tour of Harare city.
Drive on to Masvingo and the Great Zimbabwe Ruins.
Here you will do a tour of the ruins and on to the lodge
for dinner and overnight.

Day Thirteen
Depart after Breakfast for Beit Bridge and across the border
 for Pietersburg and the Ranch Hotel. Dinner and overnight.

Day Fourteen
Depart after breakfast for Johannesburg arriving at around
12h00 mid-day where the tour ends
